Hells Angels Poker Run 2019 Nz
A group of more than 100 riders made up of social riders, patched bikies and club participants rode from Brisbane to NSW for the Hells Angels Good as Gold poker run. The annual event moved over the border when the Newman Government introduced legislation banning three or more criminal organisation participants from meeting. The proceeds of the run will go to Heart Kids New Zealand, because one of the Hells Angels' sons had been unwell and was assisted by them. Journalists rarely cover poker runs or similar events.

- 3520 Hells Angels took off from the Belgrove Tavern for their Sun City Poker Run yesterday afternoon. The poker run began around 12.30pm, with around 40 bikes heading towards Lake Rotoiti. The group included the notorious Hells Angels, local riders and patched members of gangs including the Head Hunters, and Southern Vikings.
The members are in town for the Sun City Poker Run, which is being held on Saturday.
The poker run is being organised by feeder gang Prospects 81 Nelson and will start from the Belgrove Tavern at around noon.
Police say their presence isn’t welcome. “Gangs are the main driver of methamphetamine trade in this country and we do not want that here,” says area commander Mat Arnold-Kelly.
“I have seen first-hand the devastation methamphetamine wreaks on people’s lives and we all have to commit to disrupting this destructive drug trade.”
He says police will keep an extra close eye on them over the weekend.
“We want to send a clear message to gangs that the people of Nelson will not tolerate anti-social behaviour and drugs in our community.”
Inspector Arnold-Kelly says people could expect to see a highly visible police presence throughout the weekend.
