Hawaiian Ahi Fishing Tour

Visiting Kauai and going Ahi tuna fishing is a must-do experience. Hawaiian Ahi refers to two types of Tuna – the Yellowfin and Bigeye. Caught year round, with best months typically being March through September. Fishing for ahi tuna is no easy feat—it can actually be pretty exhausting, sometimes taking over an hour to bring in a 100 lb. ahi. But experiencing the thrill of catching one of these beautiful fish is a dream! Starting at Kikiaola Harbor, the west side of Kauai, aka the “Leeward side” is calmer water. The windward side (Nawiliwili Harbor) is always windy. What that means is calmer, smoother waters in the morning for us.

We share catches with you. (Freezing or keeping fish in refrigerator longer than 3 days not advised) Pelagic fish is best eaten within the first couple of days. 100 lb. Ahi will be put on ice for 24-hours before cutting as this lets the fish meat firm up for a better product. Remember, fishing is a journey itself. We can plan to catch fish, and it may not work out - similar to gambling, you put your money on the table for the experience to play! The Captain and crew will do what they do to “chase fish” to land them, spend time on Kauai’s water and leave the big world troubles behind at the harbor.
